DTC Dental Policy:
Welcome to the Downtown Clinic!
As a new client, we’d like to explain our dental care policy.
The primary mission of the Downtown Clinic is to provide our clients with high-quality, integrated care for physical and mental health—and yes, sometimes dental care. However, the focus of the Downtown Clinic is not dental, and we do not provide dental services in the clinic.
While we would like to address each client’s dental needs, our clinic has extremely limited funds for dental care. Generally, clients are not eligible for a dental referral until they have been a client of the clinic for a minimum of three months. During this time, clients must remain in good standing by:
Keeping all scheduled appointments.
Completing all ordered labs, medical testing, and imaging.
In cases of emergency dental services—such as a severe tooth abscess (infected tooth)—new clients will not need to wait three months for dental services. A Clinic staff member will typically refer clients needing emergency dental care to a local dental clinic for an exam and possible extraction (pulling of the tooth). We are usually able to pay for emergency dental services but cannot pay for dentures, bridges, partials, or other high-cost dental work.
Priority for dental referrals is given to clients who:
Do not smoke, vape, or use tobacco products.
Do not use illicit drugs or abuse alcohol.
This is due to the potential ongoing damage these substances cause to oral health.
We appreciate your understanding in this matter and look forward to working with you!
